Dr Ryan North is a self-taught visual artist from the South Coast of NSW, Australia, developing an independent photographic practice over more than 12 years alongside his work as a research scientist investigating climate change impacts in Antarctica.

Ryan is driven by a genuine passion for the environment and the beauty within it. Traveling to experience a diverse landscapes has been a key part in his creative process - across Australia and other corners of the world including Mongolia, Colombia, Iceland, and Alaska.

His work captures the colours, textures, and moods of interacting elements within a landscape. He isolates and represents familiar features in unique and unfamiliar ways. Ultimately, Ryan hopes that his work inspires deeper connections between people and the natural world.
